Most Hard-Working Trucker Contestant
Eva K – Ingersoll, ON
We know you work hard, what is the hardest part of what you do?
I think the hardest part of what I do is being a woman in a male dominated industry. There's still some drivers who still don't think it's a womans place to drive a truck. Besides that, trying not to freeze a load of product that's not supposed to be frozen! Happened to me the first time back in March in all my driving career! I cried. Was so devastating.
Your truck works hard too, what are the toughest conditions you've worked in?
The toughest conditions I've worked in will have to be my first snowstorm going to Washington. I had never chained up tires before so I was out there in -30 °C weather, had no clue what I was doing. Luckily after 4 hours (3 tires chains) a driver stopped to help me out. To this day I wish I could remember his name so I could thank him again.
What has "life" thrown at you that makes your job more challenging?
Well, being a 5'3, 130lbs female, there's only so much you can do on your own. Lol I have a great sense of humor and I use way to much sarcasm so I can laugh about the challenges in my life. The hood of my truck is about a foot and half taller than I am and weighs a ton! Trying to open that thing on my own is nearly impossible, but I manage, may take a little longer than others. Being short may have its advantages at times but it definitely has its disadvantages! Lol
